These pictures are my BEFORE photos. My Mommy and Daddy noticed when I was about 6 weeks old that my head was getting narrower and longer. Then my soft spot disappeared! Every day my head was changing shape and not for the better. I couldn't lay on the back of my head anymore because it was getting pointy and the top of my head was getting a long "ridge" down the center of it. People told Mommy it was because I slept funny and others said silly stuff like "Maybe she should wear a helmet to make her head round." Our neighbor who is an R.N. came over and she knew right away that something was wrong! We went to the pediatrician the next day and BINGO! -I was diagnosed with CRANIOSYNOSTOSIS. More specifically, I had SAGITTAL SYNOSTOSIS. (THE FIRST PICTURE SHOWS THE NARROWING OF MY FOREHEAD AND NARROWING AROUND MY EYES ABOVE MY EARS. THE SECOND PICTURE SHOWS THE TOP OF MY HEAD AND HOW LONG THE BACK OF MY HEAD WAS GETTING).

Hello! My name is Madelyn Wren and I was born on 2/2/04 -Ground Hog Day! I am now 18-months-old and so advanced for my age. I can say lots of words including all of the vowels in order of the alphabet. I love to run-run-run and climb! I can kick my legs in the pool and jump in the water by myself. Luckily someone is nearby to catch me if they're really paying attention :-) My big sisters think I'm hysterical and my Mommy and Daddy are in awe of me everyday. It's hard to believe that I was diagnosed with CRANIOSYNOSTOSIS when I was 7-weeks-old and had surgery on my little head a week later to correct this problem. I bet you wouldn't have guessed that by looking at my picture, huh? My head is now round and my golden locks now cover my "tiara." Rule #1 -NEVER say the dreaded S word (scar). My Mommy and Daddy and I hope we can help other families with the same diagnosis that I had. Welcome to my web page!
